Handley Page Dart Herald was a 1950s British turboprop passenger
aircraft. Although only 50 of these remarkable aircraft were made. Only
one served with Dan Air. That solitary Herald served just 51 days with
the company. The aircraft was leased from British Air Ferries and
reasons for not acquiring more of them are a mystery. the aircraft
performed well and was relatively economic to run with passenger appeal.
The aircraft never wore the Dan Air Livery. Registered as G-BAVX she
had previously been owned and operated by British Midland Airways
before being aquired by British Air Ferries. Dan Air returned it's
solitary Herald to BAF after it's short stint. Throughout
this section of the website we have endeavoured to find a photograph of
each individual aircraft. there are thumbnail images of all the
liveries the aircraft wore whilst with Dan Air, and in many cases, the
prior and subsequent liveries with other operators. The thumbnail images
can be enlarged by simply clicking on them.
