We have added all the magazine covers that were published by Dan-Air. The airline's first flight was in 1953, but passengers had to wait until 1967 before a magazine was offered to them. The main function of those early magazines was to provide information about the safety features of the aircraft and to show emergency exit locations, similar to those shown in today's safety cards.
The magazines also included a bar tariff and duty free guide, as well as advertisements for the selected goods. The magazines were released periodically over the next decade, but it took until 1978 - the airline's silver jubilee - to see a twice yearly in-flight magazine published.
That special souvenir edition was simply called 'Dan-Air' over the next few years this was extended to 'Dan-Air In Flight Magazine' before settling on the title 'In-Flight'
I have included at least the cover of each magazine, but unfortunately there are some gaps to this magazine story - That is where maybe you can help. If you have any of the missing magazines and you are willing to share them with me, then I would love to hear from you. You can send in scans of the magazines you have, or you can send the actual magazine. You can rest assured that the item will be looked after in our Dan Air archive - and never sold. We will also credit you on the site for the images. Send scans here If you prefer sending the magazine to the site, then the postal address can be found on the contact page. To view a magazine click on the relevant cover and you will be taken to the appropriate page. Underneath each of the magazines you will find small blocks that can be clicked taking you from page to page.
