COLIN PATIENCE - DAN AIR REMEMBERED

Go to content

My name is Colin Patience

I have recently found the Dan Air site and had a reminisce on my time with Dan Air.  I presume you are adding to the list of people who worked for the company.

I joined in March 1976 as a Flight Engineer on the Comet fleet based at Gatwick  with John Twigg and Bob Grange to name a few.

I only stayed a year before going to BA on the SVC10 and subsequently to Cathay Pacific on the Tristar and B747 Classic .  I finished off with Virgin Atlantic on the B747 Classic and my career came to a grinding halt after 9-11 in New York.  I am now retired living in Australia.

Having come for the RAF, Dan Air was a great way to be introduced to the realities of Aviation in the commercial world.  Equally, I was fortunate to fly with some great characters including Dick Sifflet, Don Ludbey, Mike Holyoake, Dave Blower, to name a few. My last trip was on G APYD with Len Schweiger from Gatwick to Luqa and return.  I also recall what a great bunch of ladies we had working with us down the back.

Happy days.

Regards

Colin Patience
