I was employed at Lasham from Sept 69 and left to go to the growing Manchester base in early 71, so this trip was around late 1970. I was still at the Manchester base when DAE was sold to FLS Aerospace and we all knew what kind of company that was after just one year and when mass voluntary/redundancies where given out 9 yrs later, I missed out due to me being 54, I waited until my 55 and retired in 2002. Loved the job and my colleagues, but the management were something else.
Just a line to say well done and to update you on the dolphins!
G-ALZO
flew from Liverpool to Malta via Nice with 2 dolphins and 1 baby
dolphin. The A/c had positioned to Liverpool from Lasham where an elect
heater was fitted. Also a membrane was laid on the floor. I flew with
the aircraft to Liverpool to go on home but was asked to come in on the
Sat and open the freight doors, I eventually flew out with the aircraft
to reinstate the heating system and drain the water out of the belly.
The return trip was to LGW and we picked up a urgent load of flowers for
the london markets in Nice, on arriving I had a chauffeur car all the
way to my digs c/w flowers. After all this time the trip is still
remembered because I was away from Lasham for a couple of days and they
paid all my overtime and expenses because of the Capts letter of thanks.
You don't get any company doing that now!.
