First Day Covers

In this section we have added First Day Covers from our collection . These have been issued in large numbers to commemorate new route launches and anniversaries. Though not as popular to collect as postcards, they have their fans and we present our collection to you now. We are always aiming to increase our collection - you could help out there!  You are welcome to send them to us by email to or can post them to us using the address on the contacts page. The pictures that have ** next to the description have been kindly donated by Dave Parsons of Cornwall who worked with Dan - Air from 1979 until the company was taken over. Special thanks go to him.

Hi Stephanie, this is a superb collection of Dan Air's First Flight covers. I worked at British Aerospace, Aircraft Group, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and would like to let you know that i have a Benham silk UK FFC DAN AIR BAE 146 Which flew in the DAN AIR colours, which was on lease from BAE. I have the complete collection of first flight covers of the BAE 146 and all are fully signed by all crew members, and i also wish you to know that i have the only flown cover in the world on the UK first flight of Concorde's maiden flight, signed by Ray Radford and Brian Trubshaw chief test pilot. Also did an exhibition at the Royal airforce museum Hendon, London on air mails from 1910 to 1960 and also 30 FFC Of the BAE 146.
Will need your email to send you a picture of the DAN AIR cover Stephanie.
Best wishes Mr. John Lay

Hi I work as a volunteer Exhibition Officer at the Solway Aviation Museum, Carlisle, Cumbria. (Registered Charity) I would like to ask you if you would give me permission to use the image of DAN AIR first day covers Jersey/Carlisle, as part of a display, I am putting together. Do you have any other airlines brochures, flight routes of any other airlines that visited Carlisle. I would be grateful for any help you can give me. Do you have any aircraft images of those aircraft etc?? I hope I am not putting you, to to much trouble. Thanking you in anticipation
